Summary
We collect as little as possible. Your conversations stay in your session. We never sell or share your data. Read on for the details.
What we collect
- Session data — an anonymous session token (cookie) so your simulation history persists during a visit. No personal information is required to start using Prechat.
- Account data — if you create an account: your email address and optionally a display name. Password is stored as a one-way hash.
- Usage data — standard server logs (IP address hashed, timestamp, endpoint). Retained for 30 days for security and abuse prevention.
What we do NOT collect
- The content of your conversations is never stored permanently by us
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers
- We do not use your conversations to train AI models
- We do not track you across other websites
AI processing
Conversation text you submit is sent to an AI model provider to generate simulated replies. This is processed in real time and is not retained beyond the API call. Our provider's data processing agreement prohibits training on your inputs.
Cookies
We use one first-party cookie: session_token, an httpOnly cookie
that identifies your anonymous session. We do not use third-party tracking cookies
or advertising cookies.
Data retention
Anonymous sessions expire after 30 days of inactivity. Registered accounts retain simulation history until you delete your account. You can request full deletion at any time by emailing us.
Your rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data at any time. Email hello@prechat.app and we will respond within 30 days.
Children
Prechat is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated via the app or by email if you have an account.
